E-Max & Empress Porcelain

Achieve aesthetics that rival natural teeth on your front teeth with E-Max crowns made entirely of reinforced glass ceramic, containing no metal infrastructure.

What is E-Max and Empress Porcelain?

E-Max (Lithium Disilicate) and Empress crowns are aesthetic dentistry applications consisting entirely of reinforced porcelain (glass ceramic) without any metal infrastructure inside.

They are the materials whose light transmittance is closest to natural tooth enamel. Thanks to these features, they provide the most perfect and natural aesthetic results, especially in the restoration of anterior teeth, smile design applications, and single tooth crowns. They do not cause a gray or purplish discoloration at the gingival margin.

What are the Advantages of E-Max / Empress Porcelain?

  • Superior Aesthetics: Transmits light just like a natural tooth, does not create an artificial or matte appearance.
  • Minimum Abrasion: Because it adheres very well to the tooth tissue, it allows less material to be removed from the tooth.
  • Biocompatible: Does not cause allergic reactions as it contains no metal; it is 100% compatible with the gums.
  • Low Plaque Retention: Because its surface is extremely smooth, tartar and stain accumulation on it is minimal.

How Does the E-Max Treatment Process Work?

1

Digital Analysis and Preparation

First, your face and smile analysis is performed. Your teeth are minimally shaped under local anesthesia, and a digital impression is taken with 3D intraoral scanners.

2

Temporary Tooth Application

Immediately after the impression is taken, aesthetic temporary crowns are placed on your teeth in the same session. Thus, your aesthetic appearance is preserved and tooth sensitivity is prevented during the laboratory phase.

3

Laboratory and Delivery

E-Max restorations, produced by milling with computer-aided CAD/CAM systems, are permanently integrated into your tooth with special light-cured chemical adhesives after an intraoral rehearsal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Things you might wonder about E-Max and Empress Porcelain.

Should Zirconium or E-Max porcelain be preferred?

Both are metal-free materials that provide excellent aesthetics. However, E-Max has higher light transmittance than zirconium, so E-Max is preferred especially for anterior (front) teeth because it offers a more natural transparency. For posterior molars where chewing force is very high, or in long bridge treatments, Zirconium is preferred due to its durability.

Are E-Max crowns durable, do they break?

Yes, they are highly durable. E-Max is a glass ceramic reinforced with lithium disilicate. Since it adheres to the tooth enamel extremely strongly, it resists normal chewing forces for many years.

How many days does E-Max treatment take?

Thanks to digital dentistry (CAD/CAM) protocols, E-Max treatments are concluded very quickly. The treatment is usually completed within 5 to 7 days (average of 3 sessions), including the clinical and laboratory processes.
